10 Ways to Manage Stress

Stress is a normal part of life and usually comes from everyday occurrences. Here are some ways you can deal with everyday sources of stress.

1. Eliminate as many sources of stress as you can.

For example, if crowds bother you, go to the supermarket when you know the lines won't be too long. Try renting videotapes rather than going to crowded movie theaters. Clear up the clutter in your life by giving away or throwing away the things that get in your way. A garage sale is one effective way to do this.

2. Make a Time-Table.

If you are always running late, sit down with a pencil and paper and see how you are actually allotting your time. Say it takes you 40 minutes to get to work. Are you leaving your house on time? You may be able to solve your problem (and de-stress your life a bit) just by being realistic. If you can't find the time for all the activities that are important to you, maybe you are trying to do too much. Again, make a list of what you do during the day and how much each activity takes. Then cut back.

3. Avoid predictably stressful situations.

If a certain sport or game makes you tense (whether it's tennis or bridge), decline the invitation to play. After all, the point of these activities is to have a good time. If you know you won't, there's no reason to play.

4. If you can't remove the stress, remove yourself.

Slip away once in a while for some private time. These quiet moments may give you a fresh perspective on your problems. Avoid stressful people. For example, if you don't get along with your father-in-law but you don't want to make an issue of it, invite other in-laws at the same time you invite him. Having other people around will absorb some of the pressure you would normally feel.

5.Avoid Competing with Others.

Competing with others, whether in accomplishments, appearance, or possessions, is an avoidable source of stress. You might know people who do all they can to provoke envy in others. While it may seem easy to say you should be satisfied with what you have, it's the truth. Stress from this kind of jealousy is self-inflicted.

6. Keep Your Distance from Gadgets.

Laborsaving devices, such as cellular phones or computer hookups, often encourage us to cram too many activities into each day. Before you buy new equipment, be sure that it will really improve your life. Be aware that taking care of equipment and getting it repaired can be stressful.

7. Try doing only one thing at a time.

For example, when you're riding your exercise bike, you don't have to listen to the radio or watch television.

8. Learn to do Nothing.

Remember, sometimes it's okay to do nothing.

9. Try to remain Calm.

If you suffer from insomnia, headaches, recurring colds, or stomach upsets, consider whether stress is part of the problem. Being chronically angry, frustrated, or apprehensive can deplete your physical resources.

10. Seek professional Help.

If you feel stress (or anything else) is getting the better of you, seek professional help -- a doctor or therapist. Early signs of excess stress are loss of a sense of well-being and reluctance to get up in the morning to face another day.

9 Amazing Ways to Overcome Laziness

Laziness = lack of desire = no productivity. Laziness is a perfectly natural thing. For some reason if we weren’t had to do offices, meet deadlines, we could have dozed the whole day, watch TV or just do nothing.

Laziness is the lack of desire to perform work or expend effort. What behavior is considered laziness varies according to personal and societal standards.

1. Have a good rest.

If we don’t get enough rest we could easily feel lazy. Don’t waste your time with those late night shows, hurry up to bed and have a good rest. During daytime you can take a nap for say half an hour or 20 minutes, enough to get back some lost energy.

2. Exercise.

Exercise is a great way to boost your energy levels and put you in a better mood. Its very easy for people to fall into the laziness trap if they feel low of energy. Make sure you have a workout in the morning every day, it will keep you fresh and active for most part of the day.

3. Motivation.

Its is very easy to forget the purpose of your work. Remind yourself why is your work so important, think for your satisfaction, family, money and so so. What if something happens to
me , family if I don’t start with my work? Think about the consequences.

4. Remove the distractions.

Laziness attracts distractions. Kids like watching TV while talking, yep we bloggers tend to browse others blogs when we are supposed to write on our own. If you remove those distractions, for example unplugging the Internet, lockup the TV, you’ll notice in couple of days how laziness is gradually leaving your life.

5. Reward yourself!

Reward yourself! You need to reward yourself for completing each task, in order to feel good about having stressed yourself in order to get the job done. Reward yourself to eat your favorite meal or watch movie if you complete the tasks.

6. Healthy diet.

Make sure you’re on a healthy diet ; junk or fast food doesn’t give your body the nutrients it needs to be active. You’ll only become fat and lazier if you don’t stop those chips, frys, pizzas etc. Fruit juices are great way to supplement your body with nutrients while working.

7. Divide the task into smaller chunks.

If the task at hand is big it can easily overwhelm anyone. In such cases, divide the task into smaller chunks, and go through them one by one. Remember, you can’t gobble an apple at one go, its much easier to eat if you take it bit by bit.

8. Set goals for yourself.

If you have goals set up for yourself, you have something to look forward to, it maybe your paycheck, a car etc. Create list of large and small things and prioritize. Its lot easier to overcome laziness if you have purpose in life.

9. Don’t stop.

Its easy enough to get lazy after completing task. Don’ t let your brain talk you into lazying. Once you have completed a task move over to the next one but make sure you reward yourself with something for accomplishing the latter task. If you really don’t have any work, head over to the gym, start jogging, help your kids with the homework, do anything to keep your hands and feet’s moving but say no to TV, internet, etc.

10 Ways to Instantly Build Self Confidence

Self confidence is the difference between feeling unstoppable and feeling scared out of your wits. Your perception of yourself has an enormous impact on how others perceive you. Perception is reality — the more self confidence you have, the more likely it is you’ll succeed.

Although many of the factors affecting self confidence are beyond your control, there are a number of things you can consciously do to build self confidence. By using these 10 strategies you can get the mental edge you need to reach your potential.
Build Self Confidence

1. Dress Sharp

Although clothes don’t make the man, they certainly affect the way he feels about himself. No one is more conscious of your physical appearance than you are. When you don’t look good, it changes the way you carry yourself and interact with other people. Use this to your advantage by taking care of your personal appearance. In most cases, significant improvements can be made by bathing and shaving frequently, wearing clean clothes, and being cognizant of the latest styles.

This doesn’t mean you need to spend a lot on clothes. One great rule to follow is “spend twice as much, buy half as much”. Rather than buying a bunch of cheap clothes, buy half as many select, high quality items. In long run this decreases spending because expensive clothes wear out less easily and stay in style longer than cheap clothes. Buying less also helps reduce the clutter in your closet.

2. Walk Faster

One of the easiest ways to tell how a person feels about herself is to examine her walk. Is it slow? tired? painful? Or is it energetic and purposeful? People with confidence walk quickly. They have places to go, people to see, and important work to do. Even if you aren’t in a hurry, you can increase your self confidence by putting some pep in your step. Walking 25% faster will make to you look and feel more important.

3. Good Posture

Similarly, the way a person carries herself tells a story. People with slumped shoulders and lethargic movements display a lack of self confidence. They aren’t enthusiastic about what they’re doing and they don’t consider themselves important. By practicing good posture, you’ll automatically feel more confident. Stand up straight, keep your head up, and make eye contact. You’ll make a positive impression on others and instantly feel more alert and empowered.

4. Personal Commercial

One of the best ways to build confidence is listening to a motivational speech. Unfortunately, opportunities to listen to a great speaker are few and far between. You can fill this need by creating a personal commercial. Write a 30-60 second speech that highlights your strengths and goals. Then recite it in front of the mirror aloud (or inside your head if you prefer) whenever you need a confidence boost.

5. Gratitude

When you focus too much on what you want, the mind creates reasons why you can’t have it. This leads you to dwell on your weaknesses. The best way to avoid this is consciously focusing on gratitude. Set aside time each day to mentally list everything you have to be grateful for. Recall your past successes, unique skills, loving relationships, and positive momentum. You’ll be amazed how much you have going for you and motivated to take that next step towards success.

6. Compliment other people

When we think negatively about ourselves, we often project that feeling on to others in the form of insults and gossip. To break this cycle of negativity, get in the habit of praising other people. Refuse to engage in backstabbing gossip and make an effort to compliment those around you. In the process, you’ll become well liked and build self confidence. By looking for the best in others, you indirectly bring out the best in yourself.

7. Sit in the front row

In schools, offices, and public assemblies around the world, people constantly strive to sit at the back of the room. Most people prefer the back because they’re afraid of being noticed. This reflects a lack of self confidence. By deciding to sit in the front row, you can get over this irrational fear and build your self confidence. You’ll also be more visible to the important people talking from the front of the room.

8. Speak up

During group discussions many people never speak up because they’re afraid that people will judge them for saying something stupid. This fear isn’t really justified. Generally, people are much more accepting than we imagine. In fact most people are dealing with the exact same fears. By making an effort to speak up at least once in every group discussion, you’ll become a better public speaker, more confident in your own thoughts, and recognized as a leader by your peers.

9. Work out

Along the same lines as personal appearance, physical fitness has a huge effect on self confidence. If you’re out of shape, you’ll feel insecure, unattractive, and less energetic. By working out, you improve your physcial appearance, energize yourself, and accomplish something positive. Having the discipline to work out not only makes you feel better, it creates positive momentum that you can build on the rest of the day.

10. Focus on contribution

Too often we get caught up in our own desires. We focus too much on ourselves and not enough on the needs of other people. If you stop thinking about yourself and concentrate on the contribution you’re making to the rest of the world, you won’t worry as much about you own flaws. This will increase self confidence and allow you to contribute with maximum efficiency. The more you contribute to the world the more you’ll be rewarded with personal success and recognition.

Top Tips to Improve Your Vision

A Marvelous Sense
They are two of your most precious possessions, but chances are, you take your eyes for granted. Most of us do. But think for a second what life would be like without being able to gaze on your grandchild or your flower garden or even navigate the kitchen without incident

Prevent Blindness America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to vision issues, estimates that 50,000 people lose their sight needlessly every year and that 80 million Americans are at risk of eye diseases that can lead to low vision and even blindness.

The good news: The most common diseases -- age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), cataracts, glaucoma, and dry eye disease -- are all preventable to some extent. Read on to see (pun intended) how you can get Stealth Healthy protection for your peepers. Before we go any further, we have to tell you that the first step, if you smoke, is to stop. Smoking increases your risk of cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, and age-related macular degeneration.

1. Mix a cup of blueberries with a cup of yogurt for breakfast this morning.
Blueberries are one of the richest fruit forms of antioxidants, and a study published in The Archives of Ophthalmology found that women and men who ate the greatest amount of fruit were the least likely to develop age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), the leading cause of blindness in older people.

2. Spread bilberry jam on your morning toast.
Or take a bilberry supplement every morning. The berries contain compounds called anthocyanosides, which may protect the retina against macular degeneration.

3. Have spinach twice a week.
Could be a spinach quiche, steamed spinach, or maybe Tuscan spinach -- sautéed in some olive oil with garlic and raisins. Regardless, be sure to get your spinach. Studies find that lutein, a nutrient that is particularly abundant in spinach, may prevent age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Ideally, get your lutein in combination with some form of fat (olive oil works great) for the best absorption.

4. Cook with red onions, not yellow.
Red onions contain far more quercetin, an antioxidant that is thought to protect against cataracts.

5. Aim your car vents at your feet -- not your eyes.

Dry, air-conditioned air will suck the moisture out of eyes like a sponge. Aim the vents in your car away from your eyes, or wear sunglasses as a shield. Dry eyes can be more than an inconvenience; serious dryness can lead to corneal abrasions and even blindness if left untreated.

6. Move your computer screen to just below eye level.
Your eyes will close slightly when you're staring at the computer, minimizing fluid evaporation and the risk of dry eye syndrome, says John Sheppard, M.D., who directs the ophthalmology residency program at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

7. Take a multivitamin every day. Make it a habit, like brushing your teeth.
A major study suggested that if every American at risk for age-related macular degeneration took daily supplements of antioxidant vitamins and zinc, more than 300,000 people could avoid ARMD-associated vision loss over the next five years. Other studies find that women who took vitamin C supplements for at least 10 years were 77 percent less likely to show initial signs of cataracts than those who took no supplemental C. So take a multi with at least 150 mg vitamin C, or take a separate C supplement.

8. Walk at least four times a week.
Some evidence suggests that regular exercise can reduce the intraocular pressure, or IOP, in people with glaucoma. In one study, glaucoma patients who walked briskly four times per week for 40 minutes lowered their IOP enough so they could stop taking medication for their condition. It's also possible -- although there's no proof yet -- that walking could also reduce your overall risk of developing glaucoma.

9. Eat fish twice a week.
A study from Harvard researchers presented at the 2003 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology's annual meeting evaluated the diets of 32,470 women and found those who ate the least amount of fish (thus getting the least amount of omega-3 fatty acids) had the highest risk of dry eye syndrome. Even tuna fish (yes, the kind that comes in a can) protected against the syndrome. If you can't stand fish, or are worried about mercury consumption, try fish-oil supplements to get your omega-3s.

10. Twice a week, walk away from greasy or sweet snacks.

A 2001 study found that people whose diets were high in omega-3 fatty acids and low in omega-6 fatty acids (found in many fat-filled snack foods like commercially prepared pie, cake, cookies, and potato chips) were significantly less likely to develop ARMD than those whose diets were high in omega-6 fatty acids and low in omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, if your diet was high in omega-6 at all -- even if you still ate plenty of fish -- the protective effects of the omega-3 fatty acids disappeared.

11. Have sweet potatoes for dinner tonight.
Since they are rich in vitamin A, these sweet spuds can help improve your night vision.

12. Turn down the heat in your house.
Heat dries out the air, which, in turn, dries out your eyes. In the winter, you might also try adding some humidity with a humidifier or even bunching a lot of plants together in the room in which you spend the most time.

13. Wear sunglasses whenever you leave the house.
When researchers examined the relationship between exposure to sunlight and cataracts or ARMD in Chesapeake Bay fishermen, they found that fishermen who protected their eyes from the harsh glare of the sun and its damaging UV rays were significantly less likely to develop these conditions than those who went bare-eyed. Wear the sunglasses even when it's not sunny out, says Dr. Sheppard. They protect your eyes from the drying effects of wind.

14. Wear a broad-brimmed hat along with your sunglasses.
A wide-brimmed hat or cap will block roughly 50 percent of the UV radiation and reduce the UV radiation that may enter your eyes from above or around glasses.

15. Pick some Southern greens for dinner tonight.

Because they are high in lutein and zeaxanthin, greens like collards and kale (delicious when lightly steamed with a splash of hot pepper vinegar) may reduce your risk of developing both cataracts and ARMD, and may even slow progression of these diseases once they've begun. Both have strong antioxidant properties, which may help repair some of the damage that contributes to both conditions.

16. Roast some fresh beets for an eye-saving side dish.
Beets get their deep red color from phytochemicals called anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants that protect the smaller blood vessels in your body, including those in your eyes.

17. Switch to "lite" salt or use spices and herbs instead of salt.
Studies find that high-salt diets increase your risk of certain types of cataracts, so stay away from the salty stuff. And while you're de-salting your diet, don't forget the salt in processed foods. Check labels for "no-salt" or "no-sodium," or "low-salt" or "low-sodium" tags when buying canned and other prepared foods.

18. Dab an essential oil of jasmine, peppermint, or vanilla on your arm and sniff.
Jasmine, says scent researcher Alan R. Hirsch, M.D., of the Chicago-based Smell and Taste Treatment Research Foundation, increases the beta waves in the frontal lobes of your brain, promoting wakefulness and enabling you to focus better and see things more acutely. All three scents stimulate the limbic system in your brain, which, in turn, stimulates the rods in your eyes, which help you see in dim light.

19. When you're working or reading, set your alarm to beep every 30 minutes.
Use this as a reminder to look up and away from your computer or book to some distant point for 30 seconds. This helps prevent eye fatigue and eyestrain.

20. Check your blood pressure every month.

You can do this yourself with a home blood pressure kit, at the doctor's office, or at the pharmacy. The two leading causes of blindness in the United States are high blood pressure and diabetes, both of which damage blood vessels.

21. Replace your mascara every three months and other eye makeup once a year.
Eye makeup is a great repository for bacteria, which can easily be transferred to your eyes and cause infections.

22. Use eye makeup remover every night before going to bed.
This prevents small pieces of mascara from winding up in your eye and possibly scratching your cornea.

23. Wear goggles when you're doing carpentry or even yard work.
Debris in the eye can lead to corneal abrasions, which can ultimately damage your vision. Also use protective goggles when you're swimming to protect your eyes from the chlorine.

24. Use a fresh towel every time you wipe your face.
Sharing face towels is a great way to get conjunctivitis, the infection also known as pinkeye.

8 Expenses You Should Cut and How

Are you looking to simplify your life? Do you have financial issues? Are you still paying off debts with no end in sight? Hey, me too! Part of my methodology includes plugging expense holes, and shunting that money towards my debts. Here are eight expenses to cut and how:

* Make Your Own Morning Coffee-
I have a tiny little one-cup machine with a steel filter. Why? Because it’s silly easy to operate and clean. I buy really good coffee by the pound, and so a pound of coffee costs $6.50 or so US. Buying coffee at the coffee shop is $2.50 or so for a large. That means, I save after only 3 uses, and it doesn’t really slow down my getting out the door, especially if you think about how much time it takes to wait in a drive-up line.

* Sum up all Your Entertainment Expenses-- When you look at each one separately, it probably doesn’t seem weird to pay $15 a month for Netflix, $10 a month for XBOX Live, $60 or so a month for Cable TV, $100 or more a year on various magazines, not to mention all the ways you spend money when you go out, including clubs, pubs, bars, concerts, shows, events, and dinners. These are all entertainment. If you’re working on your debt, tally up all those expenses and look at them in a big sum per month. How much does your entertainment budget really cost, and does that relate to how much money you’re putting towards your debts and other expenses? Maybe it’s time to reconsider.

* Get Netflix-
Going to the movies isn’t a great plan if you’re trying to save money, but renting movies is a hassle too, right? At least in the States, this is a much better option to going to brick and mortar stores for movies. They deliver the movies to your mailbox. You can’t get a late fee. Oh, and you can choose from getting just one disc at a time, two, three, or even larger numbers, for those of you who get to watch tons of flicks at once. BONUS: using one of your Netflix slots for a kids movie lets you save money, too. Kids will watch a movie 200 times, and then never need to see it again. Right?

* Bring Meals From Home or Find a Cheap, Repeatable Meal-
We tend to bleed cash on feeding ourselves, and rarely do we really savor or notice the food anyhow. It’s just a meal that we consume in between doing other things. If you can bring meals from home, that’s the least expensive, and it’s also the bet way to ensure that you know what you’re getting. I’m currently taking frozen dinners that cost only $2.00 a meal, and that’s cheaper than any sandwich I can buy. If you have to eat out, trying finding the healthiest, best value meal you can find, and stick to it or slight variations. The more adventurous your meal seeking gets, the more it will likely cost you.

* Drink at a Friend’s House, Not a Pub-
The cost of a dozen bottles of beer shared between a few friends will always be less expensive than a single drink out at a pub. Surely, one of you has a place to go for the casual entertainment experience, right? Okay, you might not be able to meet attractive members of the opposite sex there, but even if you spent a few days at one of your homes, that’d save some cash, true?

* Use Your Public Library-

Libraries have changed. Most libraries are now connected into a big sharing consortium, expanding the collection of what you can take out and what they’ll have that you might want. Further, most now have an online catalog that you can use to browse and request from home. Libraries now frequently stock DVDs (mine favors Hollywood movies, and the one in the next town features mostly highbrow independent stuff). Heck, my library just launched a big commercial digital audiobook download deal, so I can get books on my computer from my desk.

How often do you reference a book after reading it once? Make that your point. Are you going to open it many times over the years, or is this a read once, use often kind of information dump?

* Reconsider Your Driving Habits-
Are you a leadfoot? Are you the kind who goes on an hour or more jaunt just for something to do? With gas/petrol costs being so high thanks to some interesting world stage situations, considering how often and how fast you travel will help you cut a few bucks in the short term. BONUS: Get out your bike and kill two birds with one stone. Work that spare tire back off the ole belly.

* Go on a Clothing Fast-
There are a hundred reasons why you need that new shirt, or that clever belt. You might need those shoes because they’re quite a bargain. But take a good long look at your closet, at what you already have. Do you need more right now? How often are you buying clothes for fashion’s sake versus need? Are there ways you can stretch your budget by coordinating differently? We buy clothes on impulse more often than just about anything. Pay close attention to this, and consider a clothing fast. Promise not to buy clothes for one month at a time. Say, “I’ll go all of August without buying a single article of clothing.” At the end of August, assess. Do you really need anything? See if you can go September, too.

5 Ways to Feel Better in Difficult Times

As much as we hear a spiritual evolution is at hand, in many ways we still live in a very physical, down and dirty world. It can feel like you are competing in a 10K with a bum leg.

Whether you are kissing up to your boss or negotiating with your creditors, this is simply not the life you imagined for yourself. The truth is when people tell you how good life is, sometimes you just want to slap them.

You understand the concept of having a positive attitude — you are not a moron. But the reality is you have another mortgage payment due, and not enough money in the bank. Okay, let’s all agree, this sucks. You have people counting on you—you wife, you son, your ex-wife, your mutt, your IRS agent, your Mom, etc, etc.

Now that we are on the same page (facing the reality that life is not fair) what can you do about it? Here are five practical things you can do to ease the pain:

1. Write.
If you’ve never gotten in the habits on putting your thoughts on paper, start now. Keep a pad and pen next to your nightstand, next to your coffee pot, in your bathroom, on your kitchen counter, and on your coffee table.

When you have a predominate feeling, write it down. Pissed off? Write it down. Feeling blue? Write it down. Feeling anxious? Write it down. What were you thinking about when this feeling came up? What part of your body did it come from? What does it make you feel like doing? Write it down.

2. Visualize.
Let’s say you just had a passing thought of how your ex-wife screamed at you two days ago (in front of your son). Okay, you have her picture in your mind, and your son is there next to you, wincing on cue—like father, like son. Change the face of your ex-wife. Put in Santa’s face instead. He got the white beard, the big ruby cheeks, the bright red hat with the puffy ball—the whole shebang.

Instead of your ex’s sweet raspy voice, you hear Santa joyfully ask you and your son what would make you happy. Santa says, “You name it, you got!” Cut to you and your boy—excited with anticipation.

3. Breathe.
Once you have wiggled your way to a happier state of mind, breathe. Breathe deeply three or four times. Focus on you’re the breath coming in and your tummy rising. Breathe out, focusing on your body decompressing. Allow you breath to get to a normal, even place so that it feels balanced. Notice an energy moving from inside you, and experience the sensation it brings.

4. Meditate.
Allow whatever thoughts you have to be there. If Santa is still there, that’s great. If your ex-wife reappeared, so be it. Don’t judge the blips of flashing thoughts, simply observe them as if you were on the bleachers at a football game. Know that you have no control over what happens on the field in front of you. Begin to see that there are really no good or bad actions, only different ones. Enjoy the variety and contrast-it makes for an enjoyable game.

5. Practice.
This new perspective in the real world. By this time you have your eyes open, and there is no Santa, and no ex-wife in front of you. Your thoughts are still moving in and out of your consciousness, but you do not feel controlled by them. Your problems have not disappeared but you start to look at them in a new way. You do not allow yourself to become emotionally reactive to events that take place. You tackle your problems objectively, like a surgeon removing cancerous matter from an open body.

Your dispassionate focus allows your mind to be clear of unnecessary, disparaging thoughts and emotions. Through this clear lens, problems become challenges, and challenges become opportunities for learning. When a so-called problem now arises, you welcome it. Wisdom is one step closer.

The steps listed above may seem a bit simplistic. They are in a way, but what makes them challenging is that they need to be done consistently, every day, throughout the day. There are no easy answers, and no quick fixes to dealing with chaotic events.

When Cosmetic Surgery Goes Horribly Wrong !

If proof were needed that money can't buy everything, look no further.

Rich divorcee Jocelyn Wildenstein spent a rumoured £2million on cosmetic surgery to keep her husband, but succeeded only in ruining the good looks she was born with.

Clearly her strange looks have not completely scared off all male attention, as the scary-looking 62-year-old was out with a male companion enjoying an intimate dinner on last night.

Scary socialite: Jocelyn Wildenstein looks scarier than ever as she leaves a Hollywood restaurant last night after dining with a male companion

The American socialite has been nicknamed the Bride of Wildenstein and dubbed the world's scariest celebrity by a plastic surgery website.

Ms Wildenstein famously embarked on a radical amount of cosmetic procedures after fearing her millionaire art dealer husband would leave her.

Changing faces: Jocelyn today and at various stages of surgery going back to the 70s when she first went under the knife fearing her husband would leave her

Bizarrely she based her remodelled look on exotic wild cats, which he loved, as she decided that he might find her more attractive if she became "more feline".

The first time Wildenstein saw his newly-sculpted wife, he was said to have screamed in horror, unable to recognise her.

According to the Daily Telegraph, he said: "She seems to think that you fix a face the same way you fix a house."

After finding her husband in the marital bed with a 19-year-old Russian model, she divorced him and was awarded millions of dollars.

Ex-husband Alec Wildenstein, died on Monday aged 67.

Useful Tips To Increase Your Confidence

Follow these Simple and Easy to get rid of your Fears and to be a Confident Person.
1.) Ask yourself, “What’s the worst that could happen?” Too often, we place excess importance on potential problems. We all have a certain amount of energy so let’s apply it to creating extraordinary relationships, advancing our careers and meeting our goals INSTEAD of wasting that energy worrying. Take action on what you have control over and minimize risks for what you don’t. Then invest your energy wisely.

2.) In doing something for the first time, imagine that you have already done it in the past. Close your eyes, then vividly imagine you succeeding wildly at what you are really going to do for the first time. The mind does NOT know the difference between something VIVIDLY imagined and something real. Make it vivid by involving all 5 senses.

3.) Find someone who is already confident in that area and copy them. Model as many of their behaviors, attitudes, values, and beliefs for the context you want to be confident in as you can. How can you do this? Talk with them if you have access to them. If you don’t have access to them, get as much exposure to them as you can. This could be talking to people who know the person and/or buying their products if they have some.

4.) Use the “as-if” frame. I literally love this frame of mind. If you were confident, how would you be acting? How would you be moving? How would you be speaking? What would you be thinking? What would you tell yourself inside? By asking yourself these questions, you are literally forced to answer them by going into a confident state. You will then be acting “as-if” you are confident. Now just forget you are acting long enough and pretty soon you’ll develop it into a habit.

5.) Go into the future and ask if what you’re faced with is such a big deal. This might be a bit morbid and yet this works tremendously well. Imagine yourself on your deathbed looking back over your life. You are surrounded by your friends and family. You’re reviewing your life. Is what you’re faced with now even going to pop up? That’s highly unlikely. Keeping things in proper perspective really diminishes fear.

6.) Remember that you lose out on 100% of the opportunities that you never go for. To get what you want, ask for it. I fully believe that if I ask enough people for whatever I want, I can get it. This is not necessarily true and yet it’s a useful belief. As you think about your goals and what you are striving for, how effective would it be for you to believe that all the people out there want to help you if you only ask? Whether that is true or not in the “real world” does not matter. If you find that belief empowering, I invite you to adopt it as your own.

7.) Disarm the nagging, negative internal voice. That negative internal voice can keep anyone stopped. To disarm the internal voice, imagine a volume control and lower the volume. Or how about changing the internal voice to Mickey Mouse? Do you think you could take Mickey Mouse seriously if he were criticizing you? Change the voice to a clown voice. The point is to disarm the voice by altering the way it nags at you. If I hear my own voice nagging me, it stops me. If I hear a clown voice, I laugh and continue onward.

10 Ways to Naturally Detoxify Your Body

Feeling sluggish or out of sync? Having skin problems, aches and pains, or digestive problems? Straying from your healthier habits lately? It might be time for a detox.

Practiced for centuries by many cultures around the world — including ayurvedic and Chinese medicine systems — detoxification is about resting, cleaning and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help protect you from disease and renew your ability to maintain optimum health.

"The body has its own natural healing system," says Peter Bennett, N.D., medical director of Helios Clinic in Victoria, B.C., and co-author with Stephen Barrie, N.D. and Sara Faye, of 7-Day Detox Miracle (Prima Health). "Detoxification enhances this system," he explains.

How Does Detoxification Work?
Basically, detoxification means cleaning the blood. It does this mainly by removing impurities from the blood in the liver, where toxins are processed for elimination. The body also eliminates toxins through the kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph and skin. However, when this system is compromised, impurities aren't properly filtered and every cell in the body is adversely affected.

A detox program can help the body's natural cleaning process by:
Advertise Here
1) Resting the organs through fasting;
2) Stimulating the liver to drive toxins from the body;
3) Promoting elimination through the intestines, kidneys and skin;
4) Improving circulation of the blood; and
5) Refueling the body with healthy nutrients.

"Detoxification works because it addresses the needs of individual cells, the smallest units of human life," says Bennett.

How Do You Know if You Need to Detoxify?
Bennett suggests that everyone should detox at least once a year. A short detoxifying program is generally safe; in fact, scientific studies show that a detox is beneficial for health. However, Bennett cautions against detoxifying for nursing mothers, children, and patients with chronic degenerative diseases, cancer or tuberculosis. Consult your health care practitioner if you have questions about whether detoxing is right for you.

Today, with more toxins in the environment than ever, "it's critical to detox," says Linda Page, N.D., Ph.D., the author of Detoxification (Healthy Healing Publications). Page recommends detoxing for symptoms such as unexplained fatigue, sluggish elimination, irritated skin, allergies or low-grade infections; bags under the eyes; a distended stomach even if the rest of your body is thin; menstrual difficulties; or mental confusion.

Where Do You Begin?
First, lighten up your toxin load. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, cigarettes, refined sugars and saturated fats, all of which act as toxins in the body and are obstacles to your healing process. Also, minimize use of chemical-based household cleaners and personal health care products (cleansers, shampoos, deodorants and toothpastes), and substitute natural alternatives.

Another deterrent to good health is stress, which triggers your body to release stress hormones into your system. While these hormones can provide the "adrenaline rush" to win a race or meet a deadline, in large amounts they create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver. So it's a good idea to detox stressful life situations along with detoxifying your body. Yoga and meditation are simple and effective ways to relieve stress by resetting your physical and mental reactions to the inevitable stress life will bring.

Which Detox Program is Best for You?

There are many detoxification programs, depending on your individual needs. Many programs follow a 7-day schedule because, as Bennett explains, "it takes the body some time to clean the blood." His program involves fasting on liquids for two days, followed by a carefully-planned five-day diet to allow the digestive system to rest. He also advises supplements, herbs, exercise, and practices such as dry-skin brushing and hydrotherapy to enhance circulation.

Page recommends a 3-7 day juice fast (drinking only fresh fruit and vegetable juices and water) as an effective way to release toxins.

Other popular detoxing programs include:
* Cleansing supplement packages, which generally contain fiber, vitamins, herbs and minerals. There are several safe products on the market, with easy-to-follow instructions.
* A routine of drinking only water one day each week — an ancient practice of many cultures.

After a detoxification program, you can cleanse your body daily through diet, supplements and lifestyle practices.

1. Eat plenty of fiber, including brown rice and organically-grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.

2. Cleanse and protect the liver by taking herbs such as dandelion root, burdock and milk thistle, and drinking green tea.

3. Take vitamin C, which helps the body produce glutathione, a liver compound that drives away toxins.

4. Drink at least 2 quarts of water daily.

5. Breathe deeply to allow oxygen to circulate more completely through your system.

6. Transform stress by emphasizing positive emotions.

7. Practice hydrotherapy by taking a very hot shower for five minutes, allowing the water to run on your back. Follow with cold water for 30 seconds. Do this three times, and then get into bed for 30 minutes.

8. Sweat in a sauna so your body can eliminate wastes through perspiration.

9. Dry-brush your skin or try detoxifying patches or foot baths to remove toxins through your pores. Special brushes are available at natural products stores.

10. What is the most important way to detoxify? "exercise," says Bennett. "Yoga or jump-roping are good. One hour every day." Also try qigong, a martial-arts based exercise system that includes exercises specifically for detoxifying or cleansing, as well as many other exercises with specific health benefits.

Things To Do When You’re Bored

Things you can do with absolutely nothing

  • Push your eyes for interesting light show
    (Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
See a variety of blobs, stars and flashes. Try to make out things-is your sub-conscience trying to send you a message? Can you control what you see by pressing different areas with different forces? Would it be possible to somehow see the same effects on TV?

  • See how long you can hold your breath
    (Amusement Potential: 4-20 minutes)
Not that much fun, but it sure passes the time. Play with a friend, or try to beat your own personal best. Some tips: hyperventilate before hand, and stay as still as possible. My personal best is 2:00 (exactly).
  • Try to not think about polar bears
    (Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
  • This is especially hard, because by trying too much, you remember what you were trying to avoid thinking of. If you try too little, you end up thinking about polar bears anyway.

  • Scratch yourself
    (Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Go ahead, scratch yourself now. Even if nothing itches, go ahead. Doesn’t that feel pretty good?
  • Hurt yourself
    (Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
What is pain? Why is it unpleasant? There’s nothing physical about it - it’s all in your mind. Plus, after pinching yourself for awhile, boredom will seem nice next to being in pain.
  • Try to swallow your tongue
    (Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
There’s not much to say about this one. It is possible.
  • Look at something for awhile, shut eyes, study after image
    (Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)
Another great time waster. It takes about 30 seconds of staring to create an after image, and the image is then viewable for about the same length of time. Fun to combine this one with pushing on your eyes.
  • Get yourself as nauseated as possible
    (Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Best achieved by looking straight up and spinning around. Try to be so dizzy you can’t even stand up. This is also entertaining due to the “makes boredom seem a lot better” effect (see “Hurt Yourself”).

Things you can do with very little effort

  • Advertise Here
  • See what’s in your neighbor’s trash
    (Amusement Potential: 20-30 minutes)
You can learn a lot about people by what they throw out. You might uncover some dark secret about them. Plus, they might be throwing out something with value that still works, like a VCR.
  • Watch TV, repeat everything said in Italian accent
    (Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
Sort of entertaining. Fun to pretend the people on the screen are actually talking that way.
  • Call up people who write editorials you disagree with
    (Amusement Potential: 15-60 minutes)
I’m surprised no one has thought of this before. Unleash your fury on the person who had the nerve to write a letter like that! I’m pretty sure it doesn’t qualify as a prank phone call, too.
  • Make prank phone calls
    (Amusement Potential: 20-60 minutes)
Very entertaining, but requires discipline. Remember - vulgarities don’t make a call funny, but getting the other person to believe a ridiculous story will. Even more fun if you get a bunch of people on the line using a Wonderphone and take turns making the calls. One to get you started off: Call McDonalds, try to make reservations.
  • Pretend all humans will die except for people in room with you
    (Amusement Potential: 10-20 minutes)
What would you do if this really happened? Would the group stay together, or would there be factions? Who would join what group? Remember, there would only be power for a few days before the plants ran out of fuel or broke. To travel, you would always have to be near cars to siphon gas out of. Best to do with people you know.
  • Step off a curb with eyes shut, imagine it’s a cliff
    (Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)
To get any benefit out of this one, you have to have a good imagination. Don’t step off immediately, build up to the jump. Study the ravine below. Feel the winds at that altitude. Step off and…AHHHHHH!!!!!
  • Burn things with a magnifying glass
    (Amusement Potential: 5-30 minutes)
Ants are always fun to use for this, but burning the face of someone you don’t like, under some circumstances, can be just as entertaining.

Things you can do with another person

  • Advertise Here
  • Have a water drinking contest
  • (Amusement Potential: 5-10 minutes)
While the competition is fun, you probably won’t feel too good afterward. To give your event an old western theme, slam the cups upside down on the tables after you have emptied them.

  • Stare at the back of someone’s head until they turn around
    (Amusement Potential: 2-5 minutes)
This works on the “I have the feeling I’m being watched” principle. Conduct an experiment-does this really work?
  • Have a “Who is less competitive” competition
    (Amusement Potential: 1-3 minutes)
Trying to win at this will make you lose. Trying to lose makes you win which makes you lose. Not trying at all makes you lose which makes you win which makes you lose.
  • Pick up a dog so it can see things from your point of view
    (Amusement Potential: 3-5 minutes)
Think about it: your dog has only seen the house from a viewpoint from 6″ to 2′ high (15 to 60 cm for all you metric fans). It’s never seen the tops of counters, what you keep on your desk, the tops of shelves, etc. Try looking at things from its point of view, too.

  • Advertise Here
  • Pull out a hair, stick in someone’s ear
    (Amusement Potential: 1-5 minutes)
Best done to sleeping people. Added challenge in having no one else around, because then you can’t blame it on anyone else. Try to beat your record number of times before the person catches on.
  • Pour water in hand, make sneeze noise, throw water on back of person’s neck
    (Amusement Potential: 5-15 minutes)
Always a good gag. For an even bigger reaction out of the person, act like you’re not sorry at all for what they think you did. Comment instead on how big that sneeze was or about how there was a lot of mucus in that one.

10 Bad Sex Habits that you should Avoid

10 Bad Sex Habits that you should Avoid
Do you sometimes turn off the light before having sex, because you feel more comfortable in darkness? Do you sometimes tell your sexual partner, sex has been excellent, though you haven’t felt anything? Does having sex with your husband or boyfriend resemble a scenario you have learned by heart long ago? This article will tell you about 10 most wide-spread bad bed habits lots of women (their lovers as well) have and why you should get rid of them. Make your sex life more exciting and varied with these tips.

    Shyness in Bed
Modesty sometimes is sometimes considered as an advantage of a woman, but in bed it’s better to forget about it because it doesn’t allow a lot of your “dreams” to come true. And not only yours, men are often as conservative as some women and don’t want to experiment. Talk to your lover about sex and try to formulate your desires clearly. Fantasies and talks about it would help to discover your sexuality.

    Refusal of Quick Sex
It is known that the importance of foreplay is sometimes overestimated. Try to take the initiative and turn to more vigorous actions. Undoubtedly, your lover would appreciate your control over the situation, because sometimes there is nothing more exciting than quick sex.

    The Same Sex Positions
Most couples have just a pair of permanent sexual positions. This script seems to be too out of date. This is exactly the habit which makes sex monotonous and even boring. Don’t fear to put a veto on all usual sex positions and add a little inventiveness and piquancy to your sex life.

    Sex under Studied Scenario

Advertise HereForget about time-management and stop planning the time of having sex. Believe that nothing would make the life of even the most pedantic yuppie more exciting as unexpected sex in an unusual place.

    Sex in Darkness
Lots of women prefer to make love in darkness. There can be many reasons of it, but the first one is dissatisfaction with own appearance. Before turning off the light, think for a while: why is he going to have sex with You? Because the way you look turns him on and there’s no need to hide yourself. Men are said to love with eyes, this is why nothing can turn your lover on as much as your naked body. So, let him see you while you are having sex. This will please you both much more.

    Fake Orgasm
Play is valued in theatre and cinema but you shouldn’t abuse acting in bed. If you want to flatter you lover once again and to imitate unearthly bliss, think about the risk to bid farewell to the better sex life with real orgasm. Is the game worth the candle?

    Only He Initiates Sex
Forget about sex only on His initiative. Fortunately, emancipation has exceeded social frames and vigorously intruded into private life. Such developments cannot but please your lover and you must understand that to be in control of the situation is extremely pleasant.

    Serious Relationships

Advertise HereLaugh even in bed. Don’t be too serious: having fun together not only makes you closer, but also helps avoid awkward situations.

    Silence during Sex
Compliments and talks about feelings are suitable nowhere but in bed. They increase mutual interest. So, don’t be silent, it would be useful and pleasant for you both.

    Loving Yourself
It’s better to think of cellulite and other body defects before a hearty meal. In bed you should forget about all your defects. At this moment you’re the Most Wanted Woman.

10 Killer Tips For Rapid Weight Loss

In order to make the most of your weight loss program, finding the most effective ways to burn fat will maximize your results and minimize your waistline! Follow these 10 tips for fat burning if you want to lose weight and lead a healthier way of life.

    1.) Drink More Water

One of the best weight loss secrets is to ditch the sodas and stick to water! Experts say you should drink approximately eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and healthy. Instead of turning to calorie-laden or sugar-rich drinks, grab a refreshing glass of water. In addition to flushing toxins out of your system, drinking water encourages you to build muscle.

    2.) Eat More Meals

A traditional three-meals-a-day plan just will not cut it if you are in the market to burn fat. Your body is not able to metabolize large meals and will quickly turn any excess into fat. Many experts believe you should eat six small meals a day. Be sure you cut back on your food consumption at each meal, or else you will be doubling your intake—and doubling your fat storage!

    3.) Work Out with Weights

One great way to maximize the amount of fat you are burning is to add a weight program to your work out routine. Weight training will not only tone your physique, but will strengthen your body and improve your general health. Lifting weights will also burn calories and fat more quickly than traditional exercising, and it will also boost your metabolism.

    4.) Choose Protein

Choose protein-laden foods for boosting your metabolism and enabling your body to burn fat rapidly. In addition to burning fat, consuming a protein-enriched diet will help you rebuild muscle after work outs and maintain leanness of that muscle. Wisely choose proteins for your diet. Take great care to pick proteins low in fat so you do not consume extra calories.

    5.) Cut Calories Wisely

It may be tempting to drastically cut your calorie intake when starting a healthy lifestyle. Instead, use a step method when cutting your calorie intake to minimize risk. Reducing calories too quickly results in your body rapidly burning all available calories, which will lower your metabolism. Furthermore, you are more likely to maintain your healthy lifestyle through this step method.

    6.) Reward Yourself

When it comes to successfully dieting to burn the most fat, be sure to reward yourself. Everyone has temptations and favorite treats—so allow indulgence. You will be less likely to cheat on your new diet if you grant yourself small rewards. If you are a chocolate lover, treat yourself to a small square of chocolate or single chocolate kiss each evening.

    7.) Avoid Marathon Work Outs

The biggest mistake people make when looking to burn fat and lose weight is to have one long, extensive work out session. Instead, break up your work out plan into small chunks throughout the day. Take a brisk walk in the morning, enjoy a work out at lunch, and then exercise more in the evening. In addition to staying active all day long, breaking up your work out will better maintain your metabolism.

    8.) Mix It Up

Choosing to engage in a variety of quality exercises will keep your interest and best allow you to maintain your goal of burning fat. Instead of doing the same exercises each day—mix it up! Opt to swim laps one day, jog another, and bike the next. Rotating your activities will not only allow you to experience a variety of athletics, it will also allow you to better tone your body.

    9.) Skip Happy Hour

For those individuals who want to burn fat quickly, avoid alcohol. Rich in sugars and carbohydrates, alcohol is a calorie-rich substance. These empty calories can add up quickly and take away from necessary nutrients that should be included in your daily diet. Furthermore, alcohol acts as an inhibitor for burning fat, allowing your body to store it more quickly.

10.) Try a Low GI Diet

A low GI diet is an excellent method of burning fat quickly. This diet encourages individuals to consume high amounts of foods with low rankings on the Glycemic Index. These foods are nutritious and will aid your body in burning fats and calories at a quicker pace. This diet includes many of your favorite fruits, vegetable, meats, dairy, and grain products.

13 Tips on How to Tech-talk to Non-techies

Despite the current market situation, computers and computing technology are here to stay. Experts say that the market will get up, brush off its bruises, and start running in a year or two at the most.

Looking at the way digital technology is penetrating every field, it appears that nearly everyone in the world will have to learn to use computers if they haven't already, and those who are using them need to constantly upgrade their knowledge and skills. Most of these people turn to technical publications appropriate to their interest, and these publications are always eager to work with writers who can communicate technical information effectively.

Writing for technical publications is not very different from writing for others--simple, clear language, good spelling and grammar, and writing in an organized manner are the main ingredients of a well-written article.

Here are some tips to keep in mind while constructing articles for the beginner to intermediate user of computing technology:

    1. Title and leaders. Study the magazine and observe the titles. Are they witty and light, or serious and direct? Write your title and leaders in keeping with the style of the magazine. The leader is a sentence or two written below the title, before the actual article begins. This sums up what the article is trying to say. By reading the leader, readers can decide if the article is of interest and if they'd like to read it.

    2. First paragraph. This is the attention grabber. It has to call out from the page, flutter its eyelashes at the reader, and when he begins to read, hold him. At the same time, don't give false starts--the text should deal with the subject in question.

    3. Take organized steps. When we teach somebody while sitting with them, we tend to go from one thing to another, realize there's something we should have explained earlier--explain it, go back to where we left off, break for a joke, and continue.

Writing a tutorial or explaining a concept in an article form is a little different--it should be easy to read, and flow uninterrupted. Organize what you have to say into steps so that the reader does not have to go back and forth for unexplained words. Write a draft of the points you want to cover. Go over it, looking for repetitions as well as things left unsaid. If there's a step that's much longer than the others, break it into two points or paragraphs. It's easier to read that way.

    4. Explain the big words. Several technical magazine editors are so exasperated of unexplained jargon in writers' submissions that they mention it in their Writer's Guidelines. For example, Smart Computing, USA says, "We stress the use of plain English over techno-speak. In your article, explain ALL acronyms and abbreviations. Some terms appear numerous times in each issue, so the editors will probably remove some of the definitions in your article--but leave those decisions to the editors."

Don't give in to the temptation of trying to impress the editor or readers with your knowledge. Instead, convey what you chose to write about simply and clearly--that will make a better impact.

    5. Keep the target in mind. Think of the reader and write accordingly. Don't bore the average reader with lengthy descriptions of basics, and don't put in things that are too technical for the target reader to make yourself look like a whiz. If the sub-editor doesn't know what you're talking about, she may either chop it or let it be. If she chops it, there goes your tech-talk. If she leaves it, you could end up with either few takers for your article, or a set of confused, dissatisfied readers, some of who will take the time to write to the editor.

    6. Watch your tone. Just because the reader is new to the software or topic you're writing about, it doesn't mean he is stupid. He might be an expert at something that you are a complete beginner at. The tone that you use is important--let it be a journey that you make together. Show the readers how to do things by explaining clearly, but don't talk down to them. Write as if you're talking to an intelligent person who is new to your subject.

    7. Say everything. We've heard that chefs don't give away special touches in their recipes--using mint leaves instead of mint essence--that make the dish exactly so. In the same way some tech people don't like to give out everything for fear of creating competition.

Remember that you're not a stationary, full-to-the-brim barrel. As people learn and move ahead, so do you. Students or readers always remember who taught them--they not only respect you for giving away your tips, they're also sure that you know much more than they do (even if this isn't true!).

    8. Stop when you're done. Some people, on the other hand, love teaching and giving away their knowledge, so much and so generously that they don't know when to stop. If your article is about 3D animation, the subject is a wide one. Don't take off from 3D animation and then go on and on right into video editing and post-production. Say all that is to be said to the target audience about pure 3D animation, at a comfortable pace, then stop. A beginner cannot digest more than that, and the intermediate person may not be interested in video editing at all. Besides, if you talked about so many extra topics within the word-limit allotted, maybe you forgot or left out some important basics?

    9. Use sub-heads. An editor once told me, "You must write the leader, sub-heads and captions so that a busy reader can look just at these and understand what the article is trying to say." Always read recent issues of the publication you're writing for and study the style. One publication may use direct phrases for sub-heads like 'Create textures' while another prefers clever or cute ones like 'Textures for all seasons.'

    10. Cut out the small talk. You can find an inundation of technical tutorials on the Internet with a real friendly voice--so friendly that at times you forget just what it is the writer is trying to say about the software.

There's a difference between being friendly and being chatty. Chatty is talking irrelevant things by trying to be friendly: "You know, like when you go to the supermarket and see your old classmate from high school, you meet and chat, and she wants to give you her number but neither of you has a pen or a sheet of paper on you. That's when an Organizer comes in handy."

Instead, you could say, "An Organizer lets you jot down addresses, telephone numbers, birthdays, and helps you organize your schedule. It comes in especially handy when you bump into a friend when you're out, and want to exchange telephone numbers."

Avoid making irrelevant jokes, sounds (Ahhh, umm, we·ll!) and using too many exclamations--it gets noisy. The best voice is a friendly one that sticks to the topic.

    11. Snip off the extras. As with any writing, after you've gone over the article for technical errors, grammatical and spelling mistakes, and checked if everything has been explained, check once more for fluff. See what you can cut out and still convey the message. This makes for crisper writing--and reading.

    12. Illustrate. Pictures do speak better and more than words. If one good illustration can explain something clearly instead of a whole paragraph, use the illustration. At the same time, don't overdo the pictures by giving one for every tool you use unless it has been specifically asked for. Keep with the magazine's requirements and style.

While creating the illustrations, keep in mind the format the publication needs them in. If they are for Web use, they may need 72 dpi images in JPG or GIF format, while print publications may need 300 or 600 dpi images in TIF format. Provide captions for them. These captions shouldn't state the obvious like "Select the Paint tool" for a picture showing the toolbar with the Paint tool selected. They should be informative: "Using the Paint tool you can fill a selection or the area you click in."

    13. Margin material. If there is any information that doesn't quite fit into the article but is relevant and useful, send it in as a sidebar or margin material. Sidebars are not long--check with the magazine's guidelines for the acceptable length. This is a good place to put in links to related Web sites, explain jargon, or Did-you-knows. It also makes for an attractive layout.

You don't have to hold a post-graduate degree in the subject to write for technology publications of this audience. Perhaps you're an expert at using Microsoft Word, being a writer. You are then "qualified" to offer an article or tips on using the software.

On the other hand, if you're technically qualified but are not very comfortable with writing, don't despair. A large number of technical publications, especially those for the professional or advanced user, say that you don't have to be a great writer--you just need to know your stuff, and they will edit and shape your work to fit their requirements. Still, if you keep the above tips in mind when you write, the editorial department won't have to work too hard!

Ten Reasons Not To Eat Processed Food

    Its Empty

    Gastropub readymeals
    1. Processed food is all about
saving time. Millions of pounds are spent every year on the junk that manufacturers pump out every year. Such methods are used that overall quality of the finished product mostly tends to be of very low nutritional wise.

This is one of the reasons why when you are eating processed food, you tend to feel far more hungry than you would do if you are eating fresh prepared food. The reality of this time difference is marginal.

Fresh food in comparison tastes a lot better, Processed Food tends to taste very bland, I would say it's like eating a cardboard although that is a bit of an exaggeration on my part.

A lot of food stores that sell pre-packaged frozen processed food have now jumped on the health craze in order to cash in on healthy eating. But then again all this leads to misleading information on the packaging.

Let’s not mess about here the people that sell this garbage are interested in only one thing, Money. Nothing more and nothing less. Do you really in your wildest dreams think that the people that make this junk are concerned about your health? I think not.

One particular tactic that is used, is to focus on one healthy point i.e for instance the packaging might contain contains 20% less fat, but what they will fail to tell you is what sort of fat it is, is it unsaturated fat or saturated fat which is the unhealthy one.

It may be the case that the particular product is low in fat but it also may be the case that it might have tons of sugar in order to compensate for this.

Another thing that is used on a lot of processed food especially in our country is the round nutritional pie chart where you have sections of a pie chart, in order to see the calories contained within the product etc.

What a lot of manufacturers have been doing just recently is putting down the values of either half or a quarter of what it has in it, Say for instance it might give you the total fat value. This to me seems to be another misleading way of trying to trick people into thinking they are buying something that is lower in fat when in reality it isn’t.

And if you think about it, If we are take notice of what we are eating ; How come as a nation we are still getting fatter? There is something wrong somewhere, don’t you think ?

Have more money in your pocket

    2. Processed food tends to be a lot more expensive than it is healthy counterpart If you think about the logistics of this, Here is why, when you’re eating food that is full of artificial crap and no nutrition whatsoever, You’re bound to eat more of it.

Here’s something for you to do go out and compare fresh food to processed food and see how much difference there is between the two. You might be surprised at what you find. Some Processed food is quite cheap admittedly but that’s no reason to eat it.

Boxes that contain processed food are bigger than the food inside it. This is another psychological trick that you may not have realised. You’re not necessarily getting more for your money probably less, if you look carefully.

    Its Synthetic

    3. When food is processed a lot of the nutritional value is lost in the process, So added Synthetic Vitamins and Minerals are added in order to pvercome the shortfall, The only problem with this is that they are nowhere near as good as their regional counterparts. So in a way you’re cheating yourself yet again.

As we said previously when you don’t get the correct Vitamins and Minerals from your food you will tend to eat more and because of the very nature of the food you’re eating ,you're more likely to gain weight. Manufacturers can say It's packed with fortified vitamins but as we know they are no good.

    Where is it ?

    4. Where is everything that should be in processed food ? On a scale of one to 10, I would say that the nutritional value of processed food is about one, and that is being generous to say at the least. Have you ever noticed on the back of the packet all the preservatives numbers etc., What on Earth do they mean ? Will they harm you ? re they good for you ? What do they exactly do ? The problem with this is no one knows except the manufacturer.

    Is it alive !!!!

    5. I would say almost definitely not all the living enzymes and/or bacteria that can be good for you doesn’t tend to be in Processed foods and I dare say that phytochemicals probably aren’t there as well, which are an important factor when it comes to free radicals in your body,For these like plants soak up free radicals in your body which prevent disease.

Is it worth investing in ?

    Advertise Here

    6. When you buy this food you’re encouraging more being spent on it.Hence you are keeping it alive. If less people spend less money on fresh fruit and vegetables and more money on Processed Food it would encourage the growth of this particular industry.

    Not needed additions

    7. Processed food tend to have tons of chemical additives which are of no use whatsoever to you or other stuff like artificial colouring and preservatives. So the food will last longer, no use to you whatsoever. For all these could cause harm without you even knowing.

    Mystery guests !!!

    8. This type of particular food can have all sorts of strange odds and ends added during processing. One particular example of this is Sausages or Hot-Dog Sausages to be more specific. They can contain something called edible offal, i.e. different parts of the animals like ears.

    Are you a crack addict

    9. It’s a well-known fact that fat and sugar are as addictive as heroin and cocaine. They stimulate the same receptors in your brain that make you feel good. This is what’s known as a dopamine high, Manufacturers all too well know that.

These substances are highly addictive that is why processed food does have a lots of hidden Sugar and Fat, So as to make it addictive and also enhance the taste.

    Listen to old advice

    10. Can you remember when you were younger and your Parents told you to eat more Vegetables ? Well guess what ! They were right.

If you have any suggestions about this feel free to join in the discussion by leaving your opinion below.
