Underage Drinker Offers Police $17 Bribe!

IOWA CITY, Iowa - An underage drinker who police say tried to bribe an officer in exchange for a warning was arrested. Amber Breanne Gordon, 19, of Iowa City, was charged with bribery, possession of alcohol while under the legal age and unlawful use of a driver's license/aiding and abetting. She was released on her own recognizance.

Police said Gordon was at the Summit Restaurant & Bar early Monday morning when she used someone else's driver's license during an identification check. She asked police if they'd let her go if she gave them money, court records show.

She then told the officer she was only joking but would pay if the officer wanted her to. She offered the officer all the money in her pocket, which was $17, records show.

If convicted, Gordon could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $7,500 on the bribery charge. The other charges are each punishable by up to 30 days in jail and fines of up to $500.
